Day 1
Heritage along the Historic Dubai Creek
Buy a Nol transit card at your first Metro station to easily pay for public transport, including the Creek's historic wooden boat ferries, without waiting in ticket lines.
This route is designed to use the Green Line Metro to Al Ghubaiba, followed by pedestrian creek-side walks and a traditional wooden boat crossing to Deira.

Al Shindagha Museum
Begin your journey along the historic Dubai Creek in the beautifully restored houses of Al Shindagha. This expansive museum utilizes interactive technology to bring local traditions to life, allowing children to touch, smell, and listen to the stories of pearl divers and perfume makers. Wandering between the low-rise buildings feels like stepping into a peaceful village of yesterday. It provides a wonderful, air-conditioned environment where families can learn together before the afternoon sun peaks. Make sure to download the visitor guide ahead of time to help guide younger ones through the exhibits.
Tip: Ask the front desk for the family-friendly scavenger hunt sheet to keep kids actively searching for clues in each heritage house.
Next move: Dubai Metro Green Line (Al Ghubaiba Station)

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
Immerse your family in the narrow, car-free alleyways of Dubai's oldest residential quarter, famous for its high wind towers and gypsum walls. The unique architecture creates natural wind corridors, making a stroll through this historic district pleasant and shaded. Children can run safely through the pedestrian-only paths, discovering hidden art galleries, craft shops, and peaceful courtyards. It offers a calm, atmospheric contrast to the towering glass skyscrapers of modern Downtown. Pop into one of the quiet local heritage sites to see how ancient cooling systems worked without electricity.
Tip: Visit the tiny coin museum nestled inside one of the traditional courtyards; it is free to enter and has cool pull-out display drawers kids love.
Next move: Walking from Al Shindagha Museum or Al Fahidi Metro Station

Dubai Gold Souk & Abra Crossing
Cap off your heritage day by boarding a traditional wooden abra boat for a scenic ride across the waters of the Creek. The short journey offers cool breezes and excellent views of historic cargo boats unloading their goods along the banks. Once on the Deira side, step into the lively walkways of the historic Gold Souk, where shop windows glitter with incredible jewelry displays. The sights, sounds, and vibrant aromas of the neighboring Spice Souk create a memorable sensory adventure for kids. It is an exciting way to experience traditional trade as the evening lights begin to sparkle.
Tip: Find the jewelry shop displaying the Najmat Taiba, certified as the world's heaviest gold ring, which kids find fascinating.
Next move: Abra Boat Crossing and Walking
